Keeping your child in the game is usually a matter of keeping them comfortable, protected, and having fun. The Tacks 70 helmet from CCM looks to check all those boxes while making them look and feel like one of the pros while they play. It’s built with a high-density PE shell, integrated ear covers, a soft dual-density liner, and tool-free and kid-friendly fit adjustments to keep everyone in and enjoying the game.

Outer Shell Construction

The helmet shell has been constructed with high-density PE plastic for great coverage around your child’s ear and temple areas. To better disperse impact forces, the helmet uses a modern, pro-approved approach in its design. The Junior and Youth versions of the helmet also come with personalization stickers to make it easier to identify your child on the ice.

Internal Foams & Liner

The Tacks 70 uses a dual-density liner for good coverage, light weight, and great comfort. This foam is commonly used in current recreational helmets for its memory foam-like properties and good protection. The foams have been carved to follow the contours and design of the shell for good ventilation all around.

Cage Construction

The cage in this combo is new from CCM for 2022: the FM70. It uses lightweight wires with a wide, square design to balance visibility with great protection. The chin cup is fabricated with floating construction comfort foam, which is built to move with you while your child plays. It offers solid coverage with this design, no matter the situation on the ice.

On the Junior and Youth helmets, this cage comes in silver.

In terms of the blade itself, the Trigger 7 Pro uses an Agility 2 blade with Peel-Ply, a direct upgrade from the previous Agility blade found in the Trigger 6 Pro. The Agility 2 blade takes advantage of the new Sigma STP carbon weave to provide a better feel and release speed.

Fit & Sizing Adjustments

The Tacks 70 helmet includes an easy-to-use tool-free adjustment system optimized for use by young players and parents alike. The FlipClips on the sides make it easy to change the size of the helmet for better fit and protection, and CCM also made the quick-release chin strap buckle easier for kids to put on and pull off themselves.

It is suggested that you pull the helmet lengthwise all the way, and then put the helmet on your child before pushing the helmet’s shape back in place, so it can mold around their head. Once you’re done, flip the clips back to close to lock in the shape.

Certification

The Tacks 70 helmet is certified with HECC (Hockey Equipment Certification Council), CSA (Canadian Standards Association), and CE (European Community) certification. These stickers indicate their compliance with the applicable standards in different leagues.

Sizes & Colors

The Tacks 70 Junior helmet comes in Black, Navy, Pink, Red, and White colourations. This helmet is designed for players aged 7 to 10 years old with a hat size of 52.5cm - 57cm (6⅝ - 7¼).
